In August I recorded six new songs at Newzone Studio in Mar Vista, CA. All of the songs were engineered, mixed, and mastered by Wayne Peet.

It’s every musician’s dream to perform in New York city. That dream finally came through for me when I performed with Armored Saint at The Studio at Webster Hall. The venue was great and the show was sold out.
The New York/New Jersey based band 7 Witches accompanied us on our east coast jaunt. They gracioulsly supplied the backline for Armored Saint which included using Paulie Marciano’s (Belladona, 7 Witches) drum kit. It was a beautiful chrome Yamaha kit circa 1988. Paulie’s a great guy and was real easy to work with.
Webster Hall’s soundwoman, Marie, did a nice job mic’ing the drums and percussion. I’m not a big fan of using triggers on a drum kit, as I think good tuning will do the job, but Paulie’s Yamaha kit had triggers and Marie made it all work rather well. For the congas, instead of mic’ing each drum individually, Marie used an overhead condenser mic. Listening back to some of the videos recorded at the gig, the congas surprinsingly sat well within the mix. Marie studied engineering at Berklee (Boston) and really knew her stuff. We had a travel day in between our performances in Long Island, NY and Allentown, PA. Rather than drive to Allentown where there’s not much to do, we decided to spend the day in NYC and then drive to our hotel in Allentown in the evening. It was truly a perfect NY day. The air was cool and brisk, but just right for walking around SoHo. Whether stopping for coffee and some cognac or enjoying the neighborhood sights, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. We topped it off with all of us relaxing over a long dinner at a classic Italian restaurant. Wine and grappa!
